Chemical peeling
Chemical peeling is a medical procedure, in which certain chemical substances are locally applied with the goal of removing the surface, middle or deep layers of skin in a controlled manner.
Chemical peeling improves the regenerative processes in the skin, stimulating the renewal of the surface and deep structural elements. The skin has more elasticity, becomes better hydrated and more radiant. A chemical peel creates the feeling of smoother skin, erasing fine lines and wrinkles, clearing up the color and shrinking the pores.
Beside the cosmetic aims, chemical peeling has found an important application in the treatment of scars and post inflammatory hyperpigmentation from acne lesions, age spots and photodamaged skin, freckles, flat warts, actinic keratosis, etc.
Depending on the problem, the skin type and the aim of the chemical peel, the dermatological specialist will choose a particular peel with the appropriate composition and concentration – glycolic, mandelic, pyruvic, salicylic, lactic, TCA, etc.
After the procedure a slight reddening of the skin may appear, which does not disturb the patient’s daily activities. The application of active hydration and sun protection is a guarantee of success! For a better, more esthetic result a few procedures are necessary over a certain period of time!
